| Vulcans Sneak Past Unions, 4-3 | Starting pitcher George Ashe pitched well enough to help the Pittsburgh Vulcans beat the Philadelphia Unions, 4-3. Ashe, who is tied for 3rd in the FL with a 2.18 ERA, went the distance for Pittsburgh. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. With the win, Pittsburgh raised its record to 33-29.
Ashe contributed when he hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. Coming with two outs and the bases empty, the home run proved to be critical to helping Pittsburgh get the win.
"I go out there and do my job," said Ashe, "knowing I've got eight other guys to help me out."
