Skidding Barons Lose 6th Straight
Unions fans were treated to an exciting walk-off win.

The Philadelphia Unions topped the New York Barons, 6-5, in Federal League action at Girard Grounds II. The game was highlighted by the performance of Philadelphia pitcher Bancroft King. The slumping Barons have lost 6 straight.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Scruggs won it for Philadelphia. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Scruggs hit a full count fastball from Ted Carson for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 6-5 win.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Scruggs said in his postgame press conference.
