The Louisville Colts spoiled a good performance by Pittsburgh catcher Jim Frank, bumping off Pittsburgh, 9-7, at Derby Grounds. Frank went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Sam Gilleland, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save. Louisville goes to 46-20, Pittsburgh to 29-38.

Louisville took control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Norm Heyward hit a run-scoring single to make it 8-7, Colts.
