New York Beats Washington, 4-2
The New York Barons picked up a win at Columbia Field, dropping the Washington Federals, 4-2. Jack McKinley, who finished 4th in the FL in ERA with 2.85 in 1884, was the difference-maker. New York bumps their record to 28-43 with the win.

Had Charlie Patterson delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Patterson grounded out. The score remained 4-2, New York, and the Barons were out of the jam.
