| Late Offense Lifts Washington to 5-3 Victory | The Washington Federals spoiled a good performance by Philadelphia left fielder Mike Loughlin, bumping off Philadelphia, 5-3, at Capitol Park. Loughlin was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The last-place Federals hiked their record to 23-57.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Ted Greene came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Thomas Goss, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 4-3.
