Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Detroit Sturgeons and Philadelphia Unions.

Alexander Faulk did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Philadelphia Unions from being beaten, 7-5, to the Detroit Sturgeons at Girard Grounds II. Faulk was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The second-place Sturgeons lifted their record to 50-26.

Cy Verret contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 2-run single. His at-bat helped Detroit get the win.

"They had a good approach," Philadelphia skipper said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."
