Columbians Lose to Detroit, 4-2 | New York got a terrific performance from pitcher Tom Ewart, but it wasn't enough to beat the Detroit Sturgeons. Detroit won the Columbia Field contest, 4-2. Ewart threw 9.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The winning pitcher was Lloyd Dehaan. He's now 17-23. He went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits for the Sturgeons. The Sturgeons now own a record of 28-43.
With no one out in the top of the first, Bob Marshall put Detroit in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Sturgeons went on to win the ballgame.
