| Pilots Send Boston Home with 7-2 Loss | St. Louis beat Boston on the strength of starting pitcher Zebulon Eldridge's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 7-2. Eldridge, now 18-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The Pilots have an impressive 43-13 record.
St. Louis center fielder Charlie Scheer contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 57th hit of the season and put the Pilots ahead, 4-0.
"Zebulon looked very determined to have a good game," said St. Louis manager . "He was totally focused and he produced."
