Baltimore Collects 5-3 Win | Not everyone stuck through the 57-minute rain delay, but those who did went home happy.
Baltimore Bannermen starter Harlan Beesley found his groove in his team's 5-3 win over the Toronto Provincials. Beesley, who finished 3rd in the FL in doubles with 17 in 1878, went the distance for Baltimore. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits.
Jackrabbit Hoppe had a big 2-run double for the Bannermen in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Baltimore leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Henry Clancy, who is on pace to win 29 games this season, and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bannermen ahead, 4-1.
"Harlan works, he fights, and he keeps a good attitude," said Bannermen manager .
Their 41-30 record puts the Bannermen second in the International Association. | | | | |
