| Vulcans Pull Out Late Win, 2-1 | The Pittsburgh Vulcans took Philadelphia pitcher Thomas Goss's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Vulcan Grounds. The final score had Pittsburgh getting past the Unions, 2-1. Goss went 8.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. With the win, the Vulcans have a record of 52-55.
Steve Ferguson was the walk-off hero for Pittsburgh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Vulcans left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We're all about heart and hustle on this team. That's what wins ballgames," Ferguson told the Pittsburgh Gazette.
