| 5-Hit Game for Arwood | There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Virgil Arwood is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Detroit Sturgeons at Riverside Park. The monster effort from the 30-year-old catcher helped the New York Barons get the win, 11-7.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Sturgeons manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Virgil Arwood walked in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
To date Arwood has chalked up a .297 average with 8 home runs, driven in 65 runs and scored 70 times. | | | | |
