The Toronto Provincials outlasted the New York Excelsiors, 7-4, in 13 innings. Doc McGuire provided some punch at the plate for Toronto. He was 3-5 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. With the win over New York, the Provincials improved to 60-52.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Bill Lucier came to bat in the top of the 13th. Facing New York pitcher Candy Lemmons, he hit a 1-2 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Toronto on top, 5-4.
