| McCord Silences Cleveland, 3-0 Tuesday, August 11th , 1885 In a seemingly effortless performance, Mike McCord of the Philadelphia Unions shot down the Cleveland Blue Caps, 3-0, on 2 hits.
"Mike was just locating so well and using his pitches," Philadelphia manager said later. "He wasn't leaving anything over the plate."
McCord recorded 4 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
"When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game," Cleveland manager said in postgame comments to BNN. "We couldn't get a key hit off him."
So far this season, McCord is batting .231 with 2 home runs.
