| Tigers Shut Out Monarchs, Henry Winner Friday, October 5th , 1888 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Cincinnati Monarchs as starter Joe Henry shut them out, 6-0, at St. Gabriel Grounds II. The Montreal pitcher struck out 5 and walked 2 while allowing 3 hits.
"Henry was good but he wasn't flawless," Cincinnati manager said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from Montreal, but this is on us."
Over the season Henry has thrown 480.1 innings and dished out 207 strikeouts with a 33-20 mark and a 2.32 ERA.
