Davis Befuddles New York in 9-0 Detroit Win | Before the game, Roy Davis said he liked his chances. His instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing at Columbia Field, the Sturgeons pitcher blanked the New York Barons, 9-0.
"I just had a feeling it was going to be my day," Davis said in the clubhouse afterward. "My control was awesome. I could throw my fastball even when I was behind in the count."
The Detroit starter held New York scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 3 strikeouts and issuing 2 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," Barons manager said in a postgame interview. "When that happens, you usually lose."
In 36 starts this season, Davis has compiled a 14-21 record and a 3.68 ERA. | | | | |
