Poole goes 3-for-4 to Ignite Sturgeons Offense
Detroit Sturgeons starter Bill Poole found his groove in his team's 10-8 win over the Philadelphia Unions. Martin Bird, who finished 5th in the FL in wins with 24 last year, was the winning pitcher. Over 9 innings, he allowed 8 runs on 11 hits, with 6 walks and 3 strikeouts. After today's action, Detroit sits at 21-14; Philadelphia slips to 19-13.

In the top of the eighth, the Sturgeons grabbed the lead when Poole hit his 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run off Paul Bates made it 8-7, Detroit.
