Federals Score Late to Beat Unions, 5-4
The Washington Federals did just enough to nip the Philadelphia Unions, 5-4, in 10 innings. Washington pitcher Tom Ewart, in particular, had a standout performance. Ewart, now 8-14, was the winner. In 10 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. The victory puts Washington at 14-30.

The Federals got a clutch hit from catcher Bob Jenkins. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to left, to win the game for the Federals.

"The game is never over 'til it's over," said a jubilant , the Washington skipper.
