Toronto starter Henry Clancy clamped down on the Cleveland offense, while his team cruised to victory, 11-2. Clancy, who finished 4th in the IA in wins with 29 in 1883, went the distance for Toronto. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. The Provincials improved their record to 36-28 with the win over Cleveland.

Isaac Montgomery helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Toronto a 1-0 lead.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Clancy.
