The Philadelphia Unions and starting pitcher Jack Malley stifled the Pittsburgh offense en route to a comfortable 9-2 win at Vulcan Grounds. Philadelphia currently is in third place in the Federal League at 59-45.

Mike Loughlin went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Philadelphia. The 21-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Ed Wales. It was his 117th hit of the season.

"I like seeing our guys get a return on what they've put in," said Philadelphia manager .
