Nelson Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Kermit Nelson told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard."

Well, that's just what Nelson of the Indianapolis Westerners did against the Philadelphia Unions. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, but his club still suffered a defeat, 11-7.

"Not much I can say," offered Nelson in the postgame press conference. "I got a bunch of hits, but it would have been much better to get a win. Can I trade 5 hits for the win?"
